Joshua R. Hyman, Ph.D., Core Director
1320 Biotechnology Center
Email: nextgen-seq@biotech.wisc.edu

Background: Josh has been the director of the UWBC DNA Sequencing Facility since September, 2004.  He began his career as a mechanical engineer in the defense industry, but eventually followed his passion and returned to university to pursue a degree in plant breeding and genetics, receiving his PhD in Genetics from Penn State University. His graduate and postdoctoral work focused on tomato and carrot research.

Molly Zeller
1274 Biotechnology Center
Email: nextgen-seq@biotech.wisc.edu

Background:  Molly has been a Research Specialist at the DNA Sequencing Facility since August 2016. She received her BS at the University of Wisconsin – Oshkosh in 2010 and her MS at Colorado State University in 2015. Both degrees are in Cell and Molecular Biology. Molly helps co-manage the core with James. You will likely engage with her while inquiring about GBS, PacBio, or any Illumina sequencing projects. She enjoys playing volleyball, traveling, and hanging out with her nephew.

Amanda Maegli
1322 Biotechnology Center
Email: nextgen-seq@biotech.wisc.edu

Background: Amanda has been a Research Specialist at the DNA Sequencing Facility since March 2015. She received her BS in Entomology at the University of Wisconsin – Madison in 2010 and her MS in Entomology at the University of Nebraska – Lincoln in 2013. Amanda preps gDNA, GBS, performs quality control, single nucleotide polymorphism (SNP) genotyping using KASPar assays and Microsatellite Assays, and loads MiSeq, MiniSeq, and NovaSeq sequencers.

Sarah Harrie
1262 Biotechnology Center
Email: nextgen-seq@biotech.wisc.edu

Background: Sarah has been working at the DNA Sequencing Facility since August 2018. She received her bachelor’s degree in Molecular Biology from Ferris State University and also has a Molecular Biology clinical certification from ASCP. Sarah preps gDNA, GBS, and 16S libraries as well as loads the MiSeq and NovaSeq sequencers.

Bridget Ladell
1264 Biotechnology Center
Email: nextgen-seq@biotech.wisc.edu

Background: Bridget has been a Research Specialist at the DNA Sequencing Facility since August 2018. She received her BS in Molecular Biology from the University of Wisconsin-LaCrosse in 2015 and completed her MS in Environmental Engineering at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in 2018. Bridget preps High Molecular Weight DNA, GBS samples, Whole Genome Libraries, runs the Oxford Nanopore Technologies platforms, and helps process the raw data from Illumina sequencing runs. She specializes in Oxford Nanopore Technologies preps and development, chromatin conformation sequencing, and validating new sequencing methods.
