Oxford Nanopore Technologies

Service Description

As a certified service provider of library preparation and sequencing on the Oxford Nanopore Technologies PromethION 24, we provide high quality, long and ultra-long read data from various DNA and RNA inputs. The PromethION 24 is ideal for large projects, such as complete plant or human genomes while easily scaling to projects with various sample counts and genome sizes. We can run 24 flow cells simultaneously, generating 100Gb for each. The range of possibilities for projects on Oxford Nanopore Technologies is continually expanding at a very exciting rate and we always strive to offer the best service for research needs.

Advantages

Oxford Nanopore Technologies library prep kits allow us to sequence native DNA, eliminating PCR bias from the data. Native DNA in sequencing maintains strand methylation status and allows us to detect DNA base modifications without the need for chemical conversion. The pore-based flow cells allow for superior reading through long repeat regions compared to traditional next-generation sequencing. These long reads are essential for detecting structural variants and completing genome assemblies. Past projects have consistently generated read lengths upwards of 100kb (kilobases). As the only platform that can directly sequence RNA, there is an opportunity to explore splice variants/isoforms as well as base modifications.

Recommendations

To take best advantage of this platform, we recommend that you submit very high-quality DNA. We offer High Molecular Weight Extraction services. We have successfully extracted high molecular and ultra-high molecular weight DNA from a wide variety of microorganisms, plants, and animals. Contact us to go over your project plan so we can best assist with offering Oxford Nanopore Technologies services to meet your goals.

To complement our Oxford Nanopore Technologies services, we offer PacBio HiFi and we have had great success with projects that use this service performed in tandem with Oxford Nanopore Technologies to fully elucidate long stretches of genomes.

The Bioinformatics Resource Center is highly skilled at handling Oxford Nanopore Technologies data. We highly recommend contacting their experts to set up a meeting and work on your project plan.

Access our Interactive Submission Guidelines and get the exact guidance you need to prepare, label, and deliver your samples.
